Gifted and Talented (GATS)

John Purchase Public School has developed equitable processes to identify gifted and talented students across a range of curriculum areas and has designed programs to maximise student learning outcomes.

All classes feature differentiated programs, catering for individual differences, which incorporate creative thinking components, activities built around the multiple intelligences theory, activities to promote higher order thinking and grouping strategies to allow students to work with others of similar ability.

The program was built using Gagne’s model of giftedness in conjunction with staff from Macquarie University.
